Frequently asked questions
What is the legal age for cannabis in Canada?
Provinces set it. It is 18 in Alberta, 21 in Quebec, and 19 everywhere else, including all three territories.
How much cannabis can I legally carry in Canada?
Up to 30 grams of dried cannabis in public, or the federal equivalent: 450 grams of edibles, 2,100 grams of liquid, or 7.5 grams of concentrate. Homemade edibles count toward that, which is a good reason to keep them at home.
Can I grow cannabis at home in Canada?
Federally, up to four plants per household. Quebec prohibits it under provincial law, Manitoba only recently lifted its own ban, and several provinces require plants to be out of public view or allow landlords and condominiums to restrict them.
Is it legal to make edibles at home in Canada?
Yes, for adults of legal age using legally purchased cannabis, as long as you do not use organic solvents such as butane. You may share with adults but not sell. There is no milligram cap on homemade edibles, so the label is up to you.
