Avocado Toast with an Infused Olive Oil Finish

Avocado toast is the easiest breakfast to dose right, because the dose never has to go into the bowl. Mash the avocado plain so it can feed the whole table, then finish only your own slice with one measured teaspoon of infused olive oil. It is morning and the whole day is ahead, so this recipe is built around a gentle 2.5 to 5 mg.

Instructions

  1. 1

    Toast

Toast the bread until it is crisp all the way through, so it holds the avocado without going soft.

    3 min
  2. 2

    Mash plain

Mash the avocado with the lemon juice and salt. Keep the bowl plain: nothing infused goes in here, so anyone at the table can share it.

  3. 3

    Spread

Spread the avocado over the toast in an even layer, right to the crust.

  4. 4

    Dose your slice

Measure one teaspoon of infused olive oil with a real measuring spoon and drizzle it over your slice only. Finish with chili flakes if you like. No heat touches the oil, so the milligrams you measured are the milligrams you eat.

Tips from the kitchen

  • Know your oil before breakfast: run your batch through the dosage calculator so you know exactly what one teaspoon holds.
  • A morning dose has the whole day to play out. Keep it to 2.5 to 5 mg and plan nothing that needs a clear head.
  • Edibles can take up to two hours to land. Wait before deciding about more.
  • Make extra plain avocado for the table; only the slice with the drizzle is dosed.
